About this blog

Of all the animals, the boy is the most unmanageable”

-Plato

Have you ever noticed that the word “boys” rhymes with the word “noise?”  How about the fact that the word “boisterous” [pronounced BOY-sterous] means “loud, noisy and lacking in restraint or discipline?”  If you ask me, these are not simply etymological coincidences.  Nor is the fact that I am mother to 3 sons a coincidence.  The big MAN upstairs knew what he was doing and didn’t throw me into this without training.  In fact, He prepped me by having me grow up in a family where I was the only girl, raised by my dad, and sharing a house with my three older brothers.  So my entire life has been about Three Boys.

This blog is written to make light of my life as an exhausted mother of 3 rambunctious sons… I love each fiercely, and fiercely is how they love me back:  Hugs and kisses are full contact sports at my house, and interactions with my sons are often prefaced with one of them approaching me with outstretched arms, saying: “Mom, tell me if this hurts…”

People often ask me if the incidents I write about were funny at the time they actually happened.  The answer is more often than not a resounding: “NO!”  But if I didn’t choose to laugh it off, I would be curled up in the fetal position somewhere, babbling incoherently about boogers, burps and bruises…

Really great blog. Very needed!!! I thought I was the only one that forgot the tooth fairy repeatedly and does the dollar in the hand trick. So many things hit me right where I live with my three amazing, totally crazy, wild sons!
